Statler College Scholarship Funds

Thanks to our generous alumni and friends, the Statler College is able to offer scholarships. The listing below shows some of those gifts and their intent. To apply for any of these scholarships, current students can apply using our single Statler College Scholarship Application.

A. Hardy Tait COMER Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in memory of Alexander Hardy Tait.

A. Wahab & Judith B. Khair Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used for scholarships for deserving students at WVU. Scholarship recipients shall a) be citizens of the United States, b) be regularly enrolled students in Mining Engineering at WVU, c) have achieved the academic rank of freshman or above, d) have achieved and maintained a grade point average of 2.50 or greater for an undergraduate student (freshman will be selected on the basis of high school achievement), or 3.00 or greater for a graduate student, and e) enroll for and complete a minimum of fourteen credit hours if an undergraduate, or a minimum of nine credit hours if a graduate student, each semester the scholarship is in effect. The Department of Mining Engineering, College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, and the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid shall be responsible for administration of the eligibility provisions.

A.E. Griffith Bates, Sr. Electrical Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who major, or intend to major, in Electrical Engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually, provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his or her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of A.E. Griffin Bates, Sr., a 1934 graduate of the WVU Electrical Engineering program.

Ada M. & Wallace T. Rife Endowed Presidential Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships, with first consideration given to student support in the WVU Scholars Program. The recipients shall be West Virginia residents enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Scholarships shall be renewed throughout the recipients' undergraduate years of study, provided continued eligibility requirements for the Scholars Program and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, as applicable, are met.

Albert J. Monack Chemical Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used for scholarships for one or more students majoring in Chemical Engineering. The scholarship shall be awarded in the name of Albert J. Monack.

Alexander Hardie Forman Electrical Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who major, or intend to major, in Electrical Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually, provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his or her degree as determined by the College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Professor Alexander Hardie Forman.

Armand LeRoy Coulson Memorial Scholarship

This fund will be awarded based on the following criteria: Undergraduate scholarship; West Virginia Resident students enrolled at West Virginia University; student in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering in the Statler College of Engineering; a student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Student must be full-time status to receive this award. It is the Donor's intent that the spend from this Endowment be used in its entirety annually. It is the Donor's intent that this scholarship provides the maximum amount of aid to as few students as feasible annually. Student shall be making satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need as determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Qualified candidates shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid.

Ashok & Kiran Sanghavi Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for pre-majors or majors in the Benjamin M. Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Fund shall be awarded in the name of the Ashok & Kiran Sanghavi Scholarship.

B.G. McGuire Endowed Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are residents of West Virginia with U.S. citizenship and are intending to major, or are majoring in, Chemical Engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of B.G. McGuire.

Barrett Lentz Shrout Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled at WVU as majors in Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall be rising juniors or seniors and shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. At the time the scholarships are awarded, the recipients shall be legal residents of the State of West Virginia. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Barrett Lentz Shrout.

Benjamin H. Cooksey Jr. Civil Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships, with first consideration given to student support in the WVU Scholars Program. The recipients shall a) be regularly enrolled undergraduate students, b) have been admitted to the Civil Engineering Program, c) have completed at least one year of full-time study at WVU, achieving a GPA of 3.0 or better, d) be graduates of a West Virginia high school and e) demonstrate a need for financial assistance. The scholarship shall be renewable for all remaining years of the recipient's undergraduate education, provided he or she remains in the Civil Engineering program and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarships shall be awarded by the Office of Student Financial Aid in consultation with appropriate officials of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Benjamin H. Cooksey, Jr.

Bob & Ann Orders Civil Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for rising junior majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering in the West Virginia University Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall demonstrate leadership ability among peers, have high academic promise and be a West Virginia resident. First preference shall be given to students demonstrating interest in construction and/or who have financial need. It is the Donor's intent that this scholarship provides the maximum amount of aid to as few students as possible annually and that the spend from this Endowment be used in its entirety annually leaving as near a $0 balance in the cash portion of the Endowment. A student who is a recipient in their junior year is eligible for consideration in their senior year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Qualified candidates shall be determined by appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Bob & Ann Orders Civil Engineering Scholarship.

C. Binford Sims Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise of scholarship aid in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First consideration for the application of these funds will be for use in support of regularly enrolled undergraduate students at WVU in their sophomore, junior or senior years in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Furthermore, first preference shall be given to graduates of high schools in Raleigh, Fayette, Wyoming, or Summers Counties, West Virginia. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the WVU Office of Student Aid and the College of Engineering. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the honoree, C. Binford Sims.

C. Douglas & Harriett T. Miller Family Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall be U.S. citizens, as allowed by law, who graduated from a public high school in West Virginia. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the C. Douglas and Harriett T. Miller Family Scholarship.

Camden Coberly Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for West Virginia residents who are students enrolled at WVU as majors in Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First consideration shall be given to students in the WVU Scholars Program. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Camden Coberly.

Candelaria Jacquez Memorial Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for West Virginia residents who are enrolled at WVU with a declared engineering major in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must achieve and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Recipients will be eligible to continue receiving the scholarship for up to four years based on the selection criteria. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Rhonda L. Radcliff, granddaughter of Candelaria Jacquez and a graduate of the WVU Department of Chemical Engineering.

Carl Culp and Wanda Culp Memorial Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for West Virginia Resident students enrolled at West Virginia University as pre-majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources College. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU, and demonstrate financial need. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Carl Culp and Wanda Culp Memorial Scholarship.

Carl H. Cather Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for regularly enrolled students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall have demonstrated high academic promise, with preference given to those students who excel in Engineering Mechanics courses, as determined by appropriate officials of the Office of Student Financial Aid and the Dean of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. In the event that two applicants are equally qualified, financial need shall be a factor in the final selection of recipients. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Carl H. Cather.

Caryl & Gail Gray Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Benjamin M. Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources majoring in the Lane Department of computer Science and Electrical Engineering. First preference shall be for West Virginia residents. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined. The value of this award shall not exceed the equivalent cost of the academic year's tuition and fees. It is the wish of the donor that the recipient of this scholarship also be the recipient of another scholarship. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Caryl & Gail Grey Scholarship.

Charles & Rebecca Menear Kona Civil Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate and/or graduate students who are West Virginia Resident students enrolled at West Virginia University as pre-majors or majors in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources' Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and are pursuing a degree in civil engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Charles & Rebecca Menear Kona Civil Engineering Scholarship.

Charles C. Copenhaver Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide assistance to worthy students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Charles R. & Belle G. Barrett Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarships for students, preferably for West Virginia residents, who are enrolled at WVU as pre-majors or majors in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be given to Electrical Engineering students and students in the WVU Scholars Program. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Charles R. and Belle G. Barrett.

Chet & Kay Allen Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are West Virginia residents. First preference shall be for students majoring, or intending to major in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Chet & Kay Allen Scholarship.

Chris Lantz Almost Heaven Schlp. in Computer/Electrical Eng.

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be for students majoring, or intending to major in Computer and/or Electrical Engineering. Recipients must be natural-born citizens of the United States as allowed by law and institutional policy, maintain a 3.7 GPA, and demonstrate qualities of leadership. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Chris Lantz Almost Heaven Scholarship in Computer and/or Electrical Engineering.

Christopher Coal Mining Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide an annual scholarship to a West Virginia resident majoring in Mining Engineering. If no Mining Engineering student is eligible, then the scholarship shall be granted to the child of a coal mining family. If there are no eligible candidates from coal mining families, then the scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student in a related field. The scholarships will be awarded to deserving students who are in need of financial aid. A token award and the title 'Frank Ellis Christopher Scholar' will be given annually to the most eligible Mining Engineering student if the student is not in financial need. Scholarships are renewable, provided the recipient remains at West Virginia University.

CNG Endowed Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide a scholarship for a junior or senior Engineering student. The recipient will be selected based on demonstrated economic need and appropriate academic qualifications.

CNG Oil & Gas Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for students majoring in Petroleum Engineering. The recipients shall have demonstrated financial need and shall exhibit appropriate academic qualifications.

Darrell G. & Hilda R. Warner Endowed Scholarship I

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student aid. First consideration will be for use in support of the WVU Scholars Program, provided the recipients are majoring in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. The recipients shall a) be regularly enrolled students at WVU, b) be citizens of the United States, residents of West Virginia, and graduates of high schools in West Virginia, c) have achieved and maintained a GPA of 2.5 or greater and e) enroll for and complete a minimum of fourteen credit hours each semester the scholarship is in effect.

David VanDorn Sutton Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarships for students enrolled at WVU who are West Virginia residents and are participating in ongoing research with a faculty member. Recipients shall be determined by the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the David VanDorn Sutton Scholarship.
The intent of the WVU President is this will qualify for a match with the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

Dean Chester A. Arents Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for regularly enrolled undergraduate or graduate students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are residents of the State of West Virginia. The scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Dean Chester A. Arents.

Dianne Dubetz Anderson Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students engaged in research in energy in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Dianne Dubetz Anderson Scholarship.

Donal S. & Amy J. Hall Chemical Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be for residents of West Virginia who intend to or are majors in Chemical Engineering. Second preference shall be for residents of Virginia who intend to or are majors in Chemical Engineering. Third preference shall be for any U.S. citizen as allowed by law who intend to or are majors in Chemical Engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Donal S. & Amy J. Hall Chemical Engineering Scholarship.

Donald J. Donley Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled at the University as pre-majors or majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall be making satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need as determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. It is the Donor's intent that the spend/cash from this Endowment be used in its entirety annually. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided she continues to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Recipients shall be determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Donald J. Donley Scholarship.

Donald T. Worrell Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide one or more scholarships for regularly enrolled students in Mechanical Engineering. The recipients will be selected based on demonstrated high academic promise. Financial need may be considered, and preference shall be given to West Virginia residents. The selection of the recipients will be conducted during the fall semester by the Chair of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering, with the advice of the Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and one other faculty member to be selected by them. Each scholarship amount shall be limited to the cost of resident tuition for one semester. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Donald T. Worrell.

Doris H. & J. Banner Bise Memorial Sch. in Mining Eng.

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who major, or intend to major, in Mining Engineering. First preference will be given to Mining Engineering students who are residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually, provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his/her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Dr. Christopher J. Bise.

Dr. Wils Cooley Study Abroad Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are engaged in studying abroad for an academic term or an academic year, lasting at least 13 weeks. First preference shall be for those students who are a part of the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Second preference shall be for those students who will be going to Al Akhawayn University in Morocco or the University of Herfordshire in England. Third preference shall be for any CEMR student studying abroad. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Dr. Wils Cooley Student Abroad Scholarship.

Edwin Bjornson Scholarship Fund

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Edwin Bjornson Scholarship Fund.

Edwin C. Jones Sr. Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships to recipients who meet the following requirements: a) Graduate of a West Virginia high school; b) Electrical or Computer Engineering major; c) Demonstrated aptitude to become an outstanding citizen and engineer; d) High academic promise. The scholarship will be awarded on a year-to-year basis, and a student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year.

Emil Czul Endowed Scholarship

The Spendable Income from this Endowment shall provide Scholarship Awards to Qualified Recipients as hereinafter set forth.
The term 'Scholarship Award' shall mean an annual award granted to a Qualified Recipient to pay some or all of the Qualified Recipient's costs for tuition, fees, University Residence Halls and/or University Dining Services. A 'Qualified Recipient' shall mean only an undergraduate student enrolled at the University with a pre-major or major in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who:
(i) graduated from a Fayette County High School;
(ii) demonstrates academic promise as determined by the University Office of Financial Aid; and
(iii) demonstrates financial need as determined by the FAFSA and/or the University Office of Financial Aid.

In selecting among Qualified Recipients, the following preferences shall be observed:
(i) preference shall be given to students graduating from Oak Hill High School (or its successor);
(ii) preference shall be given to students who, but for the Scholarship Award, would be unable to attend the University; and
(iii) if a Qualified Recipient's financial need is such that he or she cannot attend the University but for the Scholarship Award, preference shall be to maximize the Scholarship Award (i.e., 'full ride' covering all expenses to attend the University) to that Qualified Recipient over awarding Scholarship Awards to other Qualified Recipients who do not demonstrate the same level of financial need.

Once selected, should the Qualified Recipient continue to demonstrate both academic promise and financial need, the Scholarship Award to that Qualified Recipient shall be renewed annually. 'Spendable Income' shall be determined in accordance with the Foundation Endowment Spend Policy, and shall be used annually to fund Scholarship Awards if there is at least one Qualified Recipient. It is the Donor's hope that Spendable Income determined for any year will not be less than three percent (3%) of the value of the Emil Czul Endowed Scholarship assets determined as of December 31 of the prior year. Recipients shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Emil Czul Endowed Scholarship.

Everette C. Dubbe Research Scholarship

This endowment shall provide merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students from West Virginia, or states contiguous to West Virginia, who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and perform research, as specified by the West Virginia Research Trust Fund. Should the Research Trust Fund program or its stipulations for students to perform research be terminated, then the awards shall be made to Engineering students on the basis of financial need.

Forrest & Barbara Coontz Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for West Virginia Resident or non-resident students enrolled at West Virginia University. First preference shall be for a student who intends to or is a major in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Second preference shall be for a student in any undergraduate major at WVU. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. In the event no student from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering meets the selection criteria, recipients shall be determined solely by the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Forrest and Barbara Coontz Scholarship.

Foulke Meadow River Lands Scholarship II

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the WVU Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. The recipient shall be a regularly enrolled student at WVU in an undergraduate or graduate major in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering within the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Preference will be given to an undergraduate student. Furthermore, the recipient shall be a graduate of a West Virginia high school and resident of West Virginia demonstrating a) need for financial assistance as determined by the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and b) a record of high academic achievement as determined by the scholarship committee of College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The student recipient of the scholarship may retain the scholarship until graduation, contingent on remaining a full-time student in good standing (3.00 cumulative GPA).

Fourney Family Scholarship in Aerospace Engineering

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who major, or intend to major, in Aerospace Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually, provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his or her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the Fourney family.

Fred VanKirk Civil Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the WVU Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall be regularly enrolled undergraduate students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Priority will be given to students pursuing a track in transportation. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) leadership abilities among their peers and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

George & Margie Booth Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for Marshall County residents who are students enrolled at WVU as majors in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall demonstrate high academic promise and financial need. If there are no qualified scholarship candidates from Marshall County, students who are West Virginia residents may receive the scholarships. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of George and Margie Booth.

George A. & Sylvia B. Crago Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for sophomore, junior, or senior students enrolled in Chemical Engineering in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be given to residents of Greene County, PA, and second preference to residents of West Virginia. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year.

Glen G. Guth Memorial Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships for Non-Resident pre-majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The scholarship shall be awarded to United States citizen students as allowed by law and institutional policy. First preference is for individuals who have achieved the Eagle Scout rank for men and women with significant community service work. The donor has a strong preference for undergraduate recipients of the scholarship. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA and/or the WVU Office of Financial Aid. It is the donor's intent that this scholarship provide the maximum amount of aid to as few students as feasible annually. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Qualified candidates shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Glen G. Guth Memorial Scholarship.

Global Science & Technology, Inc. Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarship support for students enrolled in the Biometrics Track of the Forensics Identification Program of the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. First preference will be given to residents of the state of West Virginia. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Global Science and Technology, Inc.

Gordon and Sheila Lawson Engineering Scholarship


This fund will be awarded based on the following criteria: Undergraduate scholarship; student pre-majoring or majoring in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources; a student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Student shall be making satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need as determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Recipients shall be determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid

Gregory M. Daniels Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for scholarship aid to students from Oceana High School or its successor. The recipients shall be regularly enrolled at WVU as undergraduates, with preference given to, but not limited to, engineering students. The recipients shall have demonstrated scholarship, leadership and character, as determined by appropriate officials at the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in memory of Gregory M. Daniels.

Hansen, Inc. Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for regularly enrolled juniors, seniors and graduate students in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering majoring in Mechanical Engineering. The recipients shall be selected based on demonstrated high academic promise and financial need, with academic excellence in the areas of mechanics, dynamics and design given special emphasis. Recipients will be selected annually before or during the fall semester by the Scholarship Committee of the Department.

Harold and Helen Shamberger Endowed Scholarship Fund

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for residents of West Virginia who are enrolled at West Virginia University with a declared engineering major in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must achieve and maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the West Virginia University Office of Student Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of Rhonda Radcliff, great niece of Harold and Helen Shamberger.

Harold M. Cather Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for undergraduate Engineering majors, with first preference given to Mechanical Engineering majors. The recipients must be U.S. citizens with superior academic standing (3.0 GPA or above). Financial need may be considered, but only in conjunction with two or more applicants having equally superior academic standing. The recipients will be selected by the Office of Financial Aid upon recommendation of the College of Engineering Scholarship Committee.

Harry & Jennifer Morgan Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for West Virginia residents who are enrolled at WVU in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and are majoring in Computer Science. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship shall remain with the recipient throughout their undergraduate program for a maximum of four years. Recipients must continue to meet the selection criteria to retain the scholarship. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Harry and Jennifer Morgan.

Harry E. DeWitt Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. First preference shall be for students majoring, or intending to major in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Harry E. DeWitt Scholarship.

Hawkins Family Endowed Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler College of  Mineral Resources and Engineering majoring in Industrial & Management Systems Engineering. First preference shall be for students who are residents of West Virginia. Recipients shall be making satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA and/or the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Recipients shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Hawkins Family Endowed Scholarship.

Helen Hope Sauerwein Wilson Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for residents of West Virginia who are female students enrolled, or intending to enroll, at WVU in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be given to students majoring in Civil Engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Helen Hope Sauerwein Wilson.

Henry Ballangee Endowed Engineering Scholarship

Scholarship at CEMR with preference given to those students 'majoring in bridge building.' The current equivalent would be for civil engineering students. Homer P. Nutter Scholarship
Funds shall be used to provide a full annual scholarship for an undergraduate student enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipient must a) be a West Virginia resident, b) be studying Mining, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and c) display financial need and academic ability.

J. Leland & Clara Virginia (Grosscurth) Taylor Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for West Virginia resident undergraduate students who are graduates of an accredited West Virginia high school and enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Preference shall be for a student who intends to or is a major in the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering participating in ongoing research with a faculty member. In the event no student meets this criteria, all students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who participate in research with a faculty member shall be eligible. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the J. Leland Taylor & Clara Virginia (Grosscurth) Taylor Memorial Scholarship. The intent of the donors is that this gift will qualify for match with the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

J. Robert & Patricia G. Stockner Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarships for residents of McDowell County, West Virginia enrolled at West Virginia University. First preference shall be given to students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Should there be no eligible applicant in the College, the Office of Student Financial Aid shall select a qualified applicant from McDowell County, West Virginia in another academic discipline to receive the Stockner Scholarship. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year, provided he or she continues to meet the relevant selection criteria. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of J. Robert and Patricia G. Stockner.

J. Scott Freshwater Scouting Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  First preference shall be for residents of Roane or Calhoun Counties.  Recipients shall demonstrate financial need.  A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined.  In the event it can be determined that a student is a former Boy or Girl Scout at any level, the Donor requests that criteria to serve as an additional preference for this scholarship.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of J. Scott Freshwater Scouting Scholarship.

Jack and Pat Caffrey Endowed Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate and/or graduate scholarships in Mining Engineering. First preference shall be for residents of McDowell County, with second preference going to any West Virginia Resident students enrolled at West Virginia University. It is the Donor's intent that this scholarship provide the maximum amount of aid to as few students as feasible annually. Recipients shall be qualified candidates and be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Jack and Pat Caffrey Endowed Scholarship.

Jack White Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Department of Mining Engineering. The scholarship recipients shall a) be U.S. citizens regularly enrolled at WVU, b) have achieved the academic rank of freshman or above, c) have achieved or maintained a GPA of 2.5 or greater (freshman will be selected on the basis of high school achievement) for a undergraduate student, or 3.0 or greater for a graduate student and e) enroll for and complete a minimum of 14 credit hours if an undergraduate, or a minimum of 9 credit hours if a graduate student, each semester the scholarship is in effect.  The Department of Mining Engineering and the Office of Student Financial Aid shall be responsible for for administering the eligibility provisions.

James and Catherine Faller Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering majoring in Chemical Engineering. Preference will be given to students with a grade point average of 3.2 or better and who demonstrate financial need. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the James and Catherine Faller Scholarship.

James B. and Darlene B. Haines IMSE Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for seniors enrolled at West Virginia University in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources majoring in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering (IMSE) focusing on operations research and management systems. Recipients shall be full time status, making satisfactory academic progress as defined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid, demonstrate financial need and be on the Dean's List, a member of Tau Beta Pu, or Alpha Pi Mu. First preference shall be for students who attended high school in southwestern Pennsylvania (Greene, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties). If no students from southwestern Pennsylvania qualify, a West Virginia resident may receive the award. Recipients shall demonstrate engagement and leadership in student organization or other engineering related activities. It is the Donors' intent that this scholarship provide the maximum amount of aid to as few student as feasible annually. Recipients shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the James B. & Darlene B. Haines IMSE Scholarship.

James Bergen and Randy Monteith Anderson Scholarship in MAE

This endowment shall provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships to benefit students currently enrolled in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are advancing research in energy and environmental sciences. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the James Bergen and Randy Monteith Anderson Endowed Scholarship in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
The Donor's expectation is that this gift will qualify for a match in accordance with West Virginia Code 18BA-1, the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

James H. & Elizabeth Marshall Swadley Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall be incoming freshmen and/or regularly enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at WVU in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who have maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and/or b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Scholarships shall be awarded in the names of James H. and Elizabeth Marshall Swadley.

James M. Hunter Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used for student scholarship aid. Scholarship recipients shall a) have demonstrated a need for financial assistance, b) be regularly enrolled students at WVU, c) be citizens of the U.S. and residents of the State of West Virginia, d) have achieved the academic rank of freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, with preference given to freshman students, e) have achieved and maintained a grade point average of 2.50 or greater (freshmen will be selected on the basis of high school achievement), and f) enroll for and complete a minimum of fourteen credit hours each semester the scholarship is in effect. First preference for scholarship awards shall be given to Engineering students from Logan County, WV. Second preference shall be given to Engineering students from counties surrounding Logan County, WV. Third preference shall be given to Engineering students who are West Virginia residents.

James O. Bunn Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide a scholarship awarded to one recipient from southern West Virginia, southwest Virginia or eastern Kentucky maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA.

James Sterling Farinash Scholarship

The endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in the Department of Mining Engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing as defined by WVU.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the James Sterling Farinash Scholarship for Mining Engineering.

James W. Craig Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled at WVU as pre-majors or majors in Industrial Engineering in the College of Engineering & Mineral Resources. Recipients shall be West Virginia residents and shall demonstrate a) academic promise by achieving a GPA of 3.2 and b) financial need. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College and Department of Industrial & Management Systems Engineering, in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of James W. Craig, a 1958 WVU graduate with a degree in Industrial Engineering who rose to the position of president of Europe for PPG International.

James Wimer Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide annual scholarships to regularly enrolled undergraduate seniors in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The recipients shall demonstrate a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the Office of Student Financial Aid and the Department of Chemical Engineering. Students who meet these requirements and who also exhibit a special interest in a research career shall be given a preference in the award process. Additionally, preference will be given to West Virginia residents when academic achievement is equal. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of James Wimer.

Jeffrey Robert Satterfield Memorial Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for freshman premajors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. First preference shall be for graduates of Elkins High School, in Elkins, WV or its successor. Second preference shall be given to students who are residents of Randolph County, WV. Third preference shall be given to graduates of other West Virginia high schools. Recipients shall be in good academic standing with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0. This scholarship shall be limited to a single student until such time as the Fund can support additional awards. This scholarship is nonrenewable. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Jeffrey Robert Satterfield Memorial Scholarship.

Jerome B. Fanucci Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide one or more scholarships for regularly enrolled students in Aerospace Engineering. The recipients shall be selected based on high academic promise as determined by the Chairman of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering & Mineral Resources, with the advice of the Chairman of the Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and one other faculty member to be selected by them. Selection will be made in the fall semester, and the recipient will be eligible to receive the award for more than one year. Scholarships will be awarded in the name of Jerome B. Fanucci.

Jesse & Marjorie Dalton Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for students in the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Program of the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Scholarships may include all fees, tuition, books, housing and living expenses. First priority shall be given to any qualified applicant who is a resident of Monongalia County and a graduate from a Monongalia County high school. If no suitable Monongalia County high school graduate is an applicant, any West Virginia high school graduate may be considered.

John and Mary McKenna Endowed Scholarship Fund

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for residents of West Virginia who are enrolled at West Virginia University with a declared engineering major in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must achieve and maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the West Virginia University Office of Student Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of Rhonda Radcliff, daughter-in-law of John and Mary McKenna, and a graduate of the West Virginia University Department of Chemical Engineering.

John F. Herholdt, Jr. Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students of senior rank in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources majoring in mechanical engineering. First preference shall be for students who are involved in a capstone design project in mechanical engineering. Recipients shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and preference will be given to those that demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA and/or the WVU Office of Financial Aid. It is the Donor's intent that the spend/cash from this Endowment be used in its entirety annually and that this scholarship provide the maximum amount of aid to as few students as feasible annually. Recipients shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the Chair of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering and approved by the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the John F. Herholdt, Jr. Scholarship.

John F. Waters Electrical Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who major, or intend to major, in Electrical Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually, provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his or her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of John F. Waters, a 1987 graduate of the WVU Electrical Engineering program.

John L. Loth Aerospace Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled at West Virginia University as majors in Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources' Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise. Recipients shall be determined jointly by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering.

John W. Mason III Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide student scholarships, with preference given as follows: 1) Major in Electrical Engineering; B) Junior or senior standing; 3) Participation in inter-collegiate track. The recipient must maintain at least a 3.0 average during the first semester to be eligible for the second semester award. The Department of Electrical Engineering will recommend the recipient, and final approval will come from the Dean of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Joseph and Louise Alvarez Memorial Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are residents of Ohio, Marshall or Wetzel Counties. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need. Recipients shall demonstrate good academic standing by maintaining a GPA of 3.2 or above. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Joseph and Louise Alvarez Memorial Scholarship.

Julian H. Phillips Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for freshman premajors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The scholarship is not renewable. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with he WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Julian H. Phillips Engineering Scholarship.

Julius W. Singleton Jr. Scholarship

Funds be used to provide four scholarships each year to Mining Engineering students; one to an incoming freshman, one to a sophomore student in good standing, and two to junior or senior students in good standing. The freshman recipients will be selected based on high school record for the first 3.5 years of attendance, academic skills as demonstrated by the ACT test, physical ability at the time of accepting the scholarship to perform the work of a mining engineer, foreman or superintendent, character as demonstrated by three letters of recommendation from the community of the applicant's residency, and submission of a letter of application expressing the reason and desire to become a Mining Engineering graduate. All recipients must also be West Virginia residents. The conditions for the annual renewal of the scholarship are a grade point average 2.5 or higher for the previous year, a letter of recommendation from the recipient's advisor, and a personal letter expressing a continued interest in pursuit of a degree in Mining Engineering.

Julius W. Singleton, Jr. Scholarship Fund II

The income from the Fund shall be used annually or otherwise to supplement the existing Julius W. Singleton Scholarships (3S002) which provide student scholarship aid in the Department of Mining Engineering, WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, or its successor. The recipients shall be regularly enrolled students at West Virginia University as undergraduate students in the mining engineering program. All recipients must be West Virginia residents. Initial award based on academic promise; annual renewal of the scholarship requires a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. The recipients shall have demonstrated the same qualifications which are currently required for recipients of the Julius W. Singleton Scholarship, as determined by appropriate officials of the West Virginia University Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, or its successor. If the mining engineering program is ever terminated, the income from this fund shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for student athletes on the varsity basketball team. Recipients of these scholarships so provided shall be selected in accordance with the criteria stated above and awarded in the name of the honoree, Julius W. Singleton, Jr.

Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to children of Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation employees. Second preference will be given to female and/or minority students. Recipients shall be pursuing a degree in their chosen field within one of the following departments: Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Management Systems Engineering, Safety Management, or Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. All recipients shall be regularly enrolled at WVU as undergraduate or graduate students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. All recipients shall have demonstrated high academic promise and leadership potential.

Kenneth & Helen Gosnell Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for incoming freshmen regularly enrolled at WVU as undergraduate students in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients who are Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering majors may renew the scholarship for up to three academic years. First preference shall be for a West Virginia resident. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Kenneth & Helen Gosnell Scholarship.

Lawrence C. Hays Endowed Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarships for residents of West Virginia who are students enrolled at West Virginia University as majors or pre-majors in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall have demonstrated academic promise by achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above and financial need. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Lawrence C. Hays.

Leah Berhanu Financial Rescue Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the WVU Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources demonstrating severe financial need that would likely cause the student to discontinue their education at WVU. A description of the severe financial need impacting the student and a recommendation from the student's advisor are the sole criteria for selection. First preference shall be for female students in the department as allowed by law and institutional policy. Recipients shall be determined by appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of Leah Berhanu Financial Rescue Scholarship.

Lemuel S. & Mary I. Menear CEMR Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarships for Monongalia County, West Virginia residents who are graduates of University High School (or its successor) enrolled at West Virginia University in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any succeeding year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Lemuel S. and Mary I. Menear.

Leonard C. Swing Scholarship

Funds shall be used for scholarship aid for students at WVU. Recipients shall be regularly enrolled at WVU as undergraduate or graduate students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the honoree, Leonard C. Swing.

Lloyd Selby Student Aid College of Engineering

Funds shall be used to provide financial aid for students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Lucy B. Johnston Engineering Student Aid

Funds shall be used for the benefit of deserving students enrolled full time in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Manley Family Oak Glen Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate and/or graduate students who are West Virginia residents enrolled at West Virginia University as pre-majors or majors in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Students must be full-time status to receive this award. Recipients shall be graduates of Oak Glen High School, WV or its successor. Recipients shall be making satisfactory academic progress as defined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. It is the Donor's intent that the spend/cash from this Endowment be used in its entirety annually and that this scholarship provide the maximum amount of aid to as few students as feasible annually. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Qualified candidates shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Manley Family Oak Glen Scholarship.

Mark and Eleanor Campbell Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering majoring in Civil Engineering. Qualified candidates shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Mark and Eleanor Campbell Engineering Scholarship.

Martha Hopkins Hashinger Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are participating in ongoing research with a faculty member in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  First preference shall be for a female student, as allowed by law, who intends to or is a major in the Department of Chemical Engineering.  Second preference shall be for a female engineering student, as allowed by law, who intends to or is a major in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU.  A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarship.  The intent of the donor is that this gift will qualify for a match with the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

Mary C. Bucklew Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Mary C. Bucklew Engineering Scholarship.

McKamish Endowed Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the McKamish Endowed Scholarship.  

Michael and Emer OBroin Gunter Family Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for female students (as allowed by law and institutional policy) who are pre-majors or majors in chemical engineering in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall be making satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA and/or the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Though not a requirement, it is the Donor's preference that this scholarship be awarded to students who have demonstrated leadership. It is Donor's intent that the spend/cash from this Endowment be used in its entirety annually. A student who is the recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Michael and Emer OBroin Gunter Family Scholarship.

Migliore Family Endowed Scholarship in Aerospace Engineering

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarship for students enrolled as premajors or majors in Aerospace Engineering in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be for female students to the extent allowed by law. Second preference shall be for Non-Resident students. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU, and shall demonstrate financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Students must be full-time status to receive this award. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Migliore Family Endowed Scholarship in Aerospace Engineering.

Mineral Resource Alumni Chapter Petroleum Natural Gas Sch.

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who major, or intend to major, in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year will be eligible to receive the award annually provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his/her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid.

Mineral Resources Alumni Chapter Mining Engineering Sch.

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who major, or intend to major, in Mining Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year will be eligible to receive the award annually provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his or her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid.

Mitchell-Morey Family Endowed Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for qualified students as defined in the agreement who are advancing research at West Virginia University.  Specifically, this endowment will advance WVU Research Initiatives approved for the WV Research Trust Fund matching gifts in: 1) Energy and environmental sciences; 2) Nanotechnology and material science; 3) Biological, biotechnological, and biomedical sciences; 4) Biometrics, security, sensing, forensic sciences and related identification technologies.  This endowment shall provide undergraduate student research scholarships to students participating in ongoing research with a faculty member at West Virginia University in one of the Four WVU Research Initiatives.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials at West Virginia University in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of Mitchell-Morey Family Endowment.

Mohar, Sajan, Mahendra and Chanda Jain Scholarship

This fund will be awarded based on the following criteria: Undergraduate or Graduate scholarship; students from the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources; non-resident students with first preference for students from India as allowed by law and institutional policy.Student shall demonstrate financial need as determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Student shall be making satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need as determined by the WVU
Office of Financial Aid. Recipients shall be determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid.

Morton Scholarship

Supersedes agreement signed March 7, 2004. This endowment shall provide scholarships for qualified students as defined in the agreement who are advancing research in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Specifically, this endowment will advance research in any of the WVU Research Initiatives approved for WV Research Trust Fund matching gifts including: 1) Energy and environmental sciences; 2) Nanotechnology and material science; 3) Biological, biotechnological, and biomedical sciences; 4) Biometrics, security, sensing, forensic sciences and related identification technologies. This endowment shall provide scholarships for resident or nonresident undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources (CEMR) and working with a faculty member to advance energy research. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Morton Scholarship. The intent of the Donor is that this gift will qualify for a match in accordance with the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

Nathan Ness Scholarship

Funds will be used to benefit students in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at WVU. This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled at WVU as majors in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the chair of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering and the Department scholarship committee, in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Nathan Ness.

North American Coalbed Methane Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled at WVU as majors in Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering or Mining Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and maintain a GPA of at least 2.5. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients may not be immediate family members of the donor or committee members. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the North American Coalbed Methane Forum.

Paul & Lucy Hornor Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources majoring in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. First preference shall be for residents of Harrison County. Second preference shall be for any West Virginia resident. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Paul & Lucy Hornor Scholarship.

Paul R. & Eleanor V. Westfall Chemical Engineering Schlp.

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering department at the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering, with preference going to residents from either Harrison or Wood Counties. Qualified candidates shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Paul R. & Eleanor V. Westfall Chemical Engineering Scholarship.

Percy H. Gillie Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships, with first consideration given to support for the Scholars Program. The recipients shall be regularly enrolled undergraduate or graduate students in the Department of Mining Engineering and residents of the State of West Virginia. The recipients shall also demonstrate a need for financial assistance, and display academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Peter's Creek Coal Association Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for West Virginia residents who are students enrolled at WVU majoring in Mining Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients who are incoming freshmen must have achieved a minimum 2.0 high school GPA. Recipients other than incoming freshmen must have achieved a minimum 2.5 GPA at the university level. Recipients shall be selected by the appropriate officials in the Mining Engineering Department, in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Peter's Creek Coal Association.

Phyllis C. Gango Cody & Philip Vincent McGance Env. Sch.

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid for undergraduate students regularly enrolled in a program of environmental studies in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the honorees, Phyllis C. Gango Cody and Philip Vincent McGance, her son.

Poulson Family Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate West Virginia resident students, with first preference for students from Wood County, enrolled at the University as pre-majors or majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be for students in the Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering Department. Recipients shall be making satisfactory academic progress and participate in extracurricular activities. It is the Donor's intent that this scholarship provides the maximum amount of aid to as few students as feasible annually. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Qualified candidates shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Poulson Family Engineering Scholarship.

Powsiri and Penprapa Klinkhachorn Robotics Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. First preference shall be for students participating on a robotics team or robotics competition. Second preference shall be for students majoring, or intending to major in computer or electrical engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Powsiri and Penprapa Klinkhachorn Robotics Scholarship.

Professor Robert D. Fowler Industrial Engineering Award

Funds shall be used to provide two student awards in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall be regularly enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at WVU in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering. The recipients shall be  outstanding students enrolled in: 1) the Human Factors Program and 2) the Materials and Handling Program, as determined by appropriate officials of the Department. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the honoree, Professor Robert D. Fowler.

R. Larry Grayson Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise to provide scholarships for undergraduate Mining Engineering students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall a) be regularly enrolled students at WVU, b) be citizens of the U.S., c) have achieved the academic rank of sophomore, junior or senior, d) have achieved and maintained a GPA of 2.50 or greater and e) enroll for and complete a minimum of 14 credit hours each semester the scholarship is in effect.

R. Michael & Mary Ann Ruppert Petroleum Eng. Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are enrolled at WVU and are majoring, or intend to major, in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually, provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his/her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of R. Michael & Mary Ann Ruppert.

Ralph & Geraldine F. Dado Mining Engineering Endowed Sch.

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarships for students who are enrolled at West Virginia University as pre-majors or majors in the Department of Mining Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Department of Mining Engineering in consultation with the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Ralph and Geraldine F. Dado.

Ralph M. Barnes Scholarship

This endowment shall provide awards for regular full-time students enrolled in the college of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are U.S. citizens.  The first award, a Senior Scholastic Achievement Award, will be presented annually to the senior Engineering student(s) who has/have the highest G.P.A. during his or her junior and senior years.  If two or more students receive the same G.P.A., multiple awards shall be made.  The second award, a Graduate Scholarship, will be awarded to the senior Industrial Engineering major who has the highest G.P.A. during his or her junior and senior year, and who will be continuing the following year as an Industrial Engineering graduate student in the program leading to a M.S. or PhD.degree.  Students transferring from accredited engineering colleges at the beginning of their junior year are eligible for both awards.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Ralph M. Barnes Scholarship.

Raymond E. Salvati Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide annual scholarships for full time undergraduate students in the Department of Mining Engineering. The scholarships can be full, partial or supplemental. The recipients must be West Virginia residents, and they will be selected based on financial need. Preference will be given to students who are graduates of Fairmont Senior High School, Fairmont, WV.

Raymond H. Blowers, Jr. Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for full-time students enrolled in the Mining Engineering program in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at WVU. The undergraduate recipients of the scholarship funds shall meet the following criteria: a) Each recipient shall be a citizen of the United States; b) Each recipient shall have achieved a grade point average of 2.50/4.00 or greater; c) Each recipient shall complete a minimum of fourteen credit hours each semester the scholarship is in effect. Freshman students shall be eligible for the scholarship award based on demonstrated academic promise and high school record. First priority shall be given to qualifying Mining Engineering students who reside in Gallia or Meigs County, OH. Second priority, if there are no students from the two counties referenced above, shall be given to Mining Engineering students from any county in the State of Ohio. Third priority, if there are no qualifying students from Ohio, shall be given to Mining Engineering students from within the United States.

Remember the Miners Scholarship for Mining Engineering

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering majoring in Mining Engineering. First preference shall be for students who are residents of West Virginia. Recipients shall be making satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA and/or the WVU Office of Financial Aid. Recipients shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Remember the Miner Scholarship for Mining Engineering.

Research Trust Fund Bergen & Monteith Scholarship in MAE

This endowment shall provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships to benefit students currently enrolled in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are advancing research in energy and environmental sciences. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the James Bergen and Randy Monteith Anderson Endowed Scholarship in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The Donor's expectation is that this gift will qualify for a match in accordance with West Virginia Code 18BA-1, the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

Research Trust Fund Cilento Research Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for chemical engineering undergraduate students in good standing at the sophomore level or higher enrolled in the Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients may renew the scholarship for up to three academic years provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined. Recipients shall participate in ongoing research under the mentorship of a Statler college faculty member. In the event no student meets this criteria, all students in the Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources who participate in research with a faculty member shall be eligible. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Stater college of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Salvatore and Josephine Cilento Research Scholarship.

Research Trust Fund Clapper Endowment

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who perform research within the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his/her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid.
The Donor's expectation is that this gift will qualify for the West Virginia Research Trust Fund matching gift program.

Research Trust Fund Dubbe Endowment

This endowment shall provide merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students from West Virginia or states contiguous to West Virginia who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and who perform research as specified by the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.  Should the Research Trust Fund program or its stipulations for students to perform research be terminated, then the donors request that the awards be made to engineering students on the basis of financial need.  
The Donor's expectation is that this gift will qualify for a match in accordance with Senate Bill 287, the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.  Qualification will be determined by appropriate officials at West Virginia University.

Research Trust Fund Hashinger Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are participating in ongoing research with a faculty member in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  First preference shall be for a female student, as allowed by law, who intends to or is a major in the Department of Chemical Engineering.  Second preference shall be for a female engineering student, as allowed by law, who intends to or is a major in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU.  A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarship.  The intent of the donor is that this gift will qualify for a match with the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

Supersedes agreement signed March 7, 2004.  This endowment shall provide scholarships for qualified students as defined in the agreement who are advancing research in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  Specifically, this endowment will advance research in any of the WVU Research Initiatives approved for WV Research Trust Fund matching gifts including: 1) Energy and environmental sciences; 2) Nanotechnology and material science; 3) Biological, biotechnological, and biomedical sciences; 4) Biometrics, security, sensing, forensic sciences and related identification technologies.  This endowment shall provide scholarships for resident or nonresident undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources (CEMR) and working with a faculty member to advance energy research.  Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU.  A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Morton Scholarship.  The intent of the Donor is that this gift will qualify for a match in accordance with the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

Research Trust Fund Statler Scholars Program

This endowment shall provide scholarships for qualified students as defined in the agreement who are advancing research in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  Specifically this endowment will advance research in any of the WVU Research Initiatives approved for WV Research Trust Fund matching gifts.  This endowment shall provide scholarships for students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and working with a faculty member to advance research.  A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided the student continues to meet the selection criteria.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Statler Research Scholars Program.

Research Trust Fund Sutton Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarships for students enrolled at WVU who are West Virginia residents and are participating in ongoing research with a faculty member.  Recipients shall be determined by the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the David VanDorn Sutton Scholarship.  
The intent of the WVU President is this will qualify for a match with the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

Rhonda L. Radcliff Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for West Virginia residents who are students enrolled at WVU with a declared Engineering major in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients must achieve and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Recipients will be eligible to continue receiving the scholarship for up to four years based on the selection criteria. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Rhonda L. Radcliff.

Richard C. Lemons & Merrilyn M. Lemons Endowed Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for qualified students as defined in this Agreement.  This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for majors or pre-majors in the West Virginia University Statler College of Engineering & Mineral Resources.  First preference shall be for West Virginia residents and students who are members of the Mountaineer Marching Band, 'The Pride of West Virginia'.  Qualified candidates shall be recommended by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering & Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of he Richard C. Lemons & Merrilyn M. Lemons Endowed Scholarship.

Richard E. Walters Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the form of scholarship awards. The award recipients shall be regularly enrolled undergraduate students at WVU in the Aerospace Engineering Program within the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Recipients of these scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the honoree, Richard E. Walters.

Richard G. Almes Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide annual scholarships for regularly enrolled students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall have graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School of Beckley, WV or Franklin High School of Murrysville, PA (or their successor high schools). If qualified graduates from these high schools are not identified, qualified graduates from other high schools in Raleigh County, WV or Westmoreland County, PA may be selected. Recipients shall also have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the College and the Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Richard G. Almes.

Richard Patton Presidential Scholarship

Funds shall be used for regularly enrolled Petroleum Engineering  students who are West Virginia residents and meet all requirements of the WVU Scholars Program, as determined by the West Virginia University Office of Student Financial Aid.

Robert & Virginia Radcliff Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for residents of West Virginia who are enrolled at WVU with a declared engineering major in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must achieve and maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU  Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Rhonda L. Radcliff, daughter of Robert and Virginia Radcliff and a graduate of the  WVU Department of Chemical Engineering.

Robert A. Trusela Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall be regularly enrolled undergraduate students at WVU in the Engineering Department. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the honoree Robert A. Trusela.

Robert C. Long Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors and majors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Hendrickson & Long Scholarship.

Robert E. & Loraine R. Pyle Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships to incoming freshmen regularly enrolled at WVU as undergraduate students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  First preference shall be for residents of Tyler County, WV.  Second preference shall be for any West Virginia resident.  Recipients who are Chemical Engineering majors may renew their scholarship for up to three academic years.  Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Robert E. & Loraine R. Pyle Scholarship.

Robert L. & Pauline Aitken Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources majoring in Industrial Engineering who have completed at least 75% of their regularly scheduled junior industrial engineering courses and demonstrate the highest level of commitment to excellence, achievement, and hard work.  It is the intention of the donor that this scholarship be awarded to two or more students.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student financial Aid and Scholarships.  funds shall be awarded in the name of the Robert L. & Pauline Aitken Scholarship.

Robert L. Gissy Endowed Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for freshman students enrolled in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be given to graduates of Parkersburg Catholic High School, Parkersburg, WV, second preference to residents of Wood County, WV, and third preference to residents of West Virginia. Funds shall be awarded in the memory of Robert L. Gissy, a 1967 (B.A.) and 1969 (M.A.) graduate of the College of Engineering at WVU.

Robert L. Raines Mining Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering majoring in Mining Engineering.  Recipients shall be determined by appropriate officials in the WVU Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Robert L.  Raines Mining Scholarship.

Robert Lee Raines Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for regularly enrolled graduate or undergraduate students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients will have demonstrated a need for financial assistance and high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Robert O. Orders, Sr. Civil Engineering Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for rising juniors majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering in the West Virginia University Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  Recipients shall demonstrate leadership ability among peers, have high academic promise and be a West Virginia resident. First preference shall be given to students demonstrating interest in construction and/or who have financial need. It is the Donor's intent that this scholarship provides the maximum amount of aid to as few students as possible annually and that the spend from this Endowment be used in its entirety annually leaving as near a $0 balance in the cash portion of the Endowment. A student who is a recipient in their junior year is eligible for consideration in their senior year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Qualified candidates shall be determined by appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and approved by the WVU Office of Financial Aid.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Robert O. Orders, Sr. Civil Engineering Scholarship.

Robotics Achievement Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering with first preference given to those students who are interested in or currently working on robotics projects. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Robotics Achievement Scholarship.

Ruckman and Balmy Dietz Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships.  First preference shall be for a student who intends to or is a major in the Department of Chemical Engineering.  Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU.  A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of Ruckman and Balmy Dietz Scholarship Fund.
Rufus West Endowed Scholarship
This fund will be used to provide scholarships for students in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Salvatore & Josephine Cilento Research Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for chemical engineering undergraduate students in good standing at the sophomore level or higher enrolled in the Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources.  Recipients may renew the scholarship for up to three academic years provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined.  Recipients shall participate in ongoing research under the mentorship of a Statler college faculty member.  In the event no student meets this criteria, all students in the Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources who participate in research with a faculty member shall be eligible.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Stater college of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Salvatore and Josephine Cilento Research Scholarship.

Samuel & Helen Jacquez Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for residents of West Virginia who are enrolled at West Virginia University with a declared Engineering major in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must achieve and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the West Virginia Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Rhonda L. Radcliff, niece of Sam and Helen Jacquez and a graduate of the WVU Department of Chemical Engineering.

Samuel and Doris Kasley Scholarship in Chemical Engineering

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering majoring in Chemical Engineering.  First preference shall be for students from Ohio County, West Virginia, and second preference for students from Greenbrier County, West Virginia.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student financial Aid and Scholarships.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Samuel and Doris Kasley Scholarship in Chemical Engineering.

Samy Elias Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate or graduate scholarship support for students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to needy students with a 3.2 GPA or better who are interested in studying engineering. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of The El Sawy Family Foundation in honor of Dr. Samy Elias.

Seltzer/Ulrich Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide annual scholarships for regularly enrolled students in Aerospace Engineering. Recipients shall be selected based on demonstrated high academic promise by the Chairman of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering, with the advice of the Chairman of the Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and one other faculty member to be selected by them. Selection shall be made during the fall semester, and the recipient will be eligible to receive the award for more than one year. Scholarships shall be awarded in the names of Leon Z. Seltzer and Benjamin H. Ulrich, Jr.

Shah Family Chemical Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources majoring in Chemical Engineering. First preference will be given to students who are graduates of a West Virginia high school. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Shah Family Chemical Engineering Scholarship.

Sharon O. & William M. Flanery Scholarship

This endowment shall provide scholarships for students enrolled at WVU as Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering majors in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise and financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. First preference will be given to residents of West Virginia. Funds shall be awarded in the name of Sharon and William Flanery.

Society of Allied Weight Engineers, Inc. Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid in the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipient shall be regularly enrolled at WVU as a junior or senior in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering. The recipient shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of the donor, the Society of Allied Weight Engineers, Inc.

Statler Research Scholars Program

Steven Michael Freeman Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for regularly enrolled undergraduate students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) student leadership skills and b) high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The scholarships shall be awarded by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department through the Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Steven Michael Freeman.

Syd S. & Felicia F. Peng Family Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide undergraduate and graduate scholarship aid for Mining Engineering or Mineral Processing Engineering students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The recipients shall a) be regularly enrolled students at WVU, b) have achieved the academic rank of sophomore or above, c) have achieved and maintained a GPA of 2.5 or greater for an undergraduate student, or 3.0 or greater for a graduate student and d) enroll for and complete a minimum of 14 credit hours if an undergraduate, or a minimum of 9 credit hours if a graduate student, each semester the scholarship is in effect. Scholarships shall be administered by the Department of Mining Engineering and the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Thomas E. & Rose B. Huzzey Endowed Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for Petroleum Engineering or Mining Engineering students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise by achieving a GPA of at least 2.50 and financial need. Recipients shall be citizens of the United States and residents of West Virginia. Also, recipients shall have achieved the academic rank of sophomore, junior, or senior, and must enroll for and complete a minimum of fourteen credit hours each semester the scholarship is in effect. If there are no recipients available in Petroleum or Mining Engineering, then students from any major within the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources that meet these criteria may receive the scholarship. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Thomas E. and Rose B. Huzzey.

Thomas E. Messmore Scholarship in Industrial Engineering

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students who major in Industrial Engineering. Demonstrated scholastic achievement (by maintenance of a cumulative grade point average equivalent to 3.40 or above), unquestioned integrity, an expressed interest in computer programming, good standing with WVU, and financial need shall be the primary selection criteria. Additional favorable consideration will be given to candidates who are Eagle Scouts, who score at or above 725 on the math SAT examination, and who were ranked in the top three of their high school graduating class. Recipient candidates shall be determined and ranked by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. A student who is a recipient in one year shall be eligible to receive the award again during his/her enrollment at WVU, provided the student remains qualified according to the above selection criteria, and demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his/her degree.

Troy Earl and Nannie Bell Painter Endowed Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for West Virginia resident students enrolled as pre-majors or majors in Engineering at the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients shall be in good academic standing as defined by WVU and shall demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA and/or the WVU Office of Financial Aid. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of Troy Earl and Nannie Bell Painter.

W. David & W. Corder Teter Schlp for Mechanical Engineering

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. First preference shall be for students majoring, or intending to major in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the W. David & W. Corder Teter Scholarship for Mechanical Engineering.

W. David & W. Corder Teter Scholarship for Civil Engineering

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors  in the Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. First preference shall be for students majoring, or intending to major in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for Civil Engineering students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Walter and Anita Haddad Endowed Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for residents of West Virginia who are enrolled at West Virginia University with a declared major in Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must achieve and maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.2. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year. Recipients shall be determined by the West Virginia University Office of Student Financial Aid in consultation with the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Walter and Anita Haddad.

Walter M. Stender & Katherine P. McGuire IMS Engineering Sch

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled at WVU majoring in Industrial Engineering in the Industrial and Management Systems Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Preference shall be given to students who have held a part-time or full-time job within twelve months prior to selection. Recipients shall have plans to become a manager or business leader, and shall demonstrate team and leadership abilities. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Walter M. Stender and Katherine P. McGuire.

Warren D. & Grace W. Sharpenberg Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled at West Virginia University's College of Engineering & Mineral Resources who major, or intend to major, in Mining Engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate college and department officials in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarships shall be awarded in the name of Warren D. Sharpenberg and Grace W. Sharpenberg.

Watson Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for graduate or undergraduate students who are West Virginia residents and are qualifying themselves, through study, for some branch of coal development or coal research. The recipients will be selected based on academic achievement and promise of success in some field of coal development or coal research. Financial need will be considered, but will not be the controlling factor in selection.

Wells Fargo Energy Group Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for scholarship/fellowship awards for students in the Department of Mining Engineering engaging in energy research.  Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid.  Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Wells Fargo Energy Group.

Wes and Natalie Bush Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide scholarships for West Virginia resident students enrolled at West Virginia University in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be for recipients demonstrating financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria outlined in this Agreement. The value of this award shall not exceed the equivalent cost of that academic year's tuition and fees. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the Wes and Natalie Bush Engineering Scholarship.

Westmoreland Coal Company Endowed Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarships for students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First consideration for the scholarship will be given to dependents of employees of the Westmoreland Coal Company's Winding Gulf and Imperial Smokeless Divisions. The scholarships shall not be restricted to a specific field of study, and renewals are available contingent upon the recipient maintaining normal academic progress and a 2.0 GPA.

Willard W. Hodge/Chemical Engineering Scholarship

Funds shall be used to provide scholarship support for Chemical Engineering students, limited to tuition, laboratory fees and incidental fees.

William and Debra McMann Engineering Scholarship

This Endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for premajors or majors in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be for students majoring, or intending to major in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Ohio. Second preference shall be fore general engineering students from Ohio. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Funds shall be awarded in the name of the William and Debra McMann Engineering Scholarship.

This endowment shall provide scholarships for undergraduate students who perform research within the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering. A student who is a recipient one year shall receive the award annually, provided the student demonstrates satisfactory progress toward his/her degree as determined by College policies. Recipients shall be determined by the appropriate officials in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid.

William W. Ferrell Memorial Scholarship

Funds shall be used annually or otherwise for student scholarship aid for undergraduate or graduate students regularly enrolled at WVU in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. First preference shall be given to students majoring in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering who are graduates of a southern West Virginia high school. Second preference shall be given to students majoring in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering who are graduates of any West Virginia high school. The recipients shall have demonstrated a) need for financial assistance and b) high academic promise as determined by the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid. Students shall be awarded in the name of the donor, Annette R. Ferrell (Class of 1949) and children Barbara Ann Ferrell (1972), William W. Ferrell, II (1975), and Robert R. Ferrell (1975) in memory of William W. Ferrell.

WV Mining & Reclamation Association Scholarship

Funds shall be used for scholarships in support of the Scholars Program. The recipients will be regularly enrolled undergraduate or graduate students in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources who are majoring in Mining Engineering and/or related fields. Preference will be given to residents of West Virginia. The recipients shall have demonstrated a need for financial aid and exhibited high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Mineral and Energy Resources.
