Beyond the classroom


At the Statler College, we aim to enhance the quality of higher education by embracing diverse thoughts, experiences and perspectives. Having a diverse body of faculty and staff is essential to provide academic excellence in teaching, mentoring, research and service to our diverse students.


Anyone in grades K-12, along with parents and educators, are invited to visit our College to learn about science-, technology-, engineering- and math-related fields (often referred to as STEM fields). Learn more about our programs and events.


Students have access to state-of-the-art technology at the Lane Innovation Hub that enables inventors and entrepreneurs to take their dreams from design to creation.


The Statler College Advising Center provides students with year-round access to advisors who are available to help with scheduling, career planning, extracurriculars, major changes, and more. Our experts our dedicated to helping students stay on track to meet their academic goals.


The Statler College welcomes all students both near and far from the state of West Virginia as well as providing a multitude of places for students to learn at while they're earning their degrees, including Rome and Germany.

Meet the Dean

Dean Pedro J. Mago has served as Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources since July 2020. Mago is an award winning professor and researcher, an expert on energy systems, concentrated on combined heat and power systems, building energy simulation, waste heat recovery technologies and an experienced academic leader.
