Aerospace Engineering

The MSAE program gives you greater knowledge of aerospace engineering while conducting research to advance the field. Advanced Bachelor’s to Master’s

Aerospace Engineering

The Accelerated Bachelor's/Master's (ABM) Program allows students to complete bachelor's and master's degrees in Aerospace Engineering simultaneously in a shorter time frame.

Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering offers the option to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in an accelerated time frame.

Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering offers the option to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in an accelerated time frame.

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering offers the option to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in an accelerated time frame.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering offers the option to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in an accelerated time frame.

Industrial Engineering

The Accelerated Bachelor's/Master's (ABM) Program allows students to complete bachelor's and master's degrees in Industrial Engineering simultaneously. A typical timeline for the bachelor's degree is four years, and for the master's degree, it is two years. Students can complete both degrees simultaneously in five years by enrolling in the ABM Program.

Mechanical Engineering

The Accelerated Bachelor's/Master's (ABM) Program allows students to complete bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering simultaneously in a shorter time frame.

Dual Degrees

Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

The dual major pathway offers you an opportunity gain competence in both mechanical and aerospace engineering on approximately the same time scale as either path. Students are more directly introduced to multidisciplinary teams, which – due to increasing complexity – are necessary for a growing number of projects in the modern world.

Civil Engineering and Mining Engineering

You can simultaneously pursue B.S. degrees in civil engineering and mining engineering by completing additional courses. The dual degrees offer you an opportunity to become prepared for entry in both the infrastructure and energy markets.

Computer Engineering and Computer Science

If you wish to pursue both the BSCS degree and the BSCpE degree simultaneously. This can be accomplished by declaring your intentions to your advisor (normally by the middle of your sophomore year) and taking all classes necessary to complete the joint requirements for both degrees.

Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering

If you wish to pursue both the BSEE degree and the BSCpE degree simultaneously. This can be accomplished by declaring your intentions to your advisor (normally by the middle of your sophomore year) and taking all classes necessary to complete the joint requirements for both degrees.

Biomedical Engineering Certificate

If you have appropriate prerequisites and a working knowledge of organic chemistry, specifically the naming conventions for, and knowledge of charge distribution in, organic molecules, then the biomedical engineering certificate program is a perfect pairing with your major.

Global Competency

Mine Safety and Health

The certificate program in mine safety practices and health is open to all students with appropriate prerequisites in geology, statistics and physics. 

Extension Programs

Mine Emergency Preparedness Program

The team at WVU is dedicated to preparing coal miners to handle emergency conditions. Mine fire safety, confined space operations (specific to mining), industrial firefighting and mine rescue team training are provided through classroom instruction, but also the more important hands-on exercises.

Mining Extension Program

Established in 1913 to extend the resources and expertise of West Virginia University to the coal miners of this state and subsequently the nation. We provide opportunities for personal, educational and industrial advancement through instructional courses.

Industrial Extension Program

Partners with small- and medium- size manufacturers in West Virginia to support operational improvement and business growth.
