Internship or Co-op Experience

For the summer of 2024, I participated in undergraduate research for the University of Pittsburgh's mechanical engineering department through the MEMS FIRE program, an NSF-funded REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates). My research area was in advanced manufacturing, where I assisted my grad student mentor in analyzing the effects of heat accumulation on metal samples printed using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). I learned how to program in Python, write a research paper, and design a research presentation. A revised version of the research paper I wrote was accepted and published in the 2025 version of Ingenium, which is the research magazine of Pitt's engineering college.

For the summer of 2025, I will be working as an SLS Interfaces Intern for Amentum at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. I will be assisting the Systems Design and Definition Branch with integrating small satellite payload interfaces for various Space Launch System configurations.

Fun Fact

I performed with my high school choir at Carnegie Hall.

Favorite Thing About WVU and Statler College

My favorite thing about WVU is its thriving sense of community. You'll meet many students and faculty members who are willing to help you and want to see you succeed. I'm lucky to have made so many new friends here, and my daily interactions with them help make WVU feel like my home away from home.

My favorite thing about the Statler College is that there is a variety of student orgs, programs, and opportunities to get involved with that can help you discover new interests, refine your skills, meet new friends, and overall prepare you to be a better engineer when you graduate.

Advice for Prospective Students

Get started early! Whether it's doing an assignment, getting involved in a student org, applying to internships, or making new friends, it's best to start as early as possible to help set you up for success and open up opportunities for even greater things further down the line.
