Our College has an active and diverse student body, with dozens of student organizations, honoraries, and professional societies. As a student in our College, you will have many opportunities to interact with your fellow students, faculty, and professionals in your field. The University has intramural sports and a wide range of academic and social organizations for people of all interests. The energy from athletics is unsurpassed. Students in our College find friends, fun, and positive, life-changing experiences in and out of the classroom.
Our Freshman Engineering program provides many opportunities to learn about the various departments and student organizations within them, to help students get involved and engaged with College life early on in their academic careers.
Engineer Fest, held early in the first year, provides an opportunity for freshmen to meet and get involved with everything from Formula Lightning, a spirited, highly visible, electric-powered, competition series for student teams, to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, to many more.
Our student get involved with a wide range of hands-on design projects and programs, from Design-Build-Fly, in which students design and build an electric-powered, remote-controlled aircraft, to the Industrial Outreach Program in Mexico, which enables teams of students to work with and learn from practicing engineers in a global setting... and many, many more. Want to gain professional and experience and earn a paycheck while earning your degree? Learn more about our Cooperative Education Program, which allows eligible students to apply what they learn in the classroom to career-related employment by alternating periods of full-time study and paid full-time employment. The result? Students gain experience and make important connections for their careers, at the same time as they defray the cost of their education. It's a win-win for sure.
Statler Ambassador Program
The Statler College has a successful Statler Ambassador Program. Yearly, we take applications for new ambassadors and reevaluate returning ambassadors to make sure the College is represented well.
Responsibilities would include (but not be limited to):
- Assisting with large College events in a leadership capacity
- Meeting with prospective students and their families
- Allowing prospective students to shadow you during classes
- Placing phone calls or writing emails to prospective students
- Representing the Statler College at regional college fairs
- Being a member of the Student Advisory Council
