Praveen Majjigapu, a doctoral student in civil engineering at West Virginia University, has been named inaugural national chair for the Structural Engineering Institute Graduate Student Chapter Leadership Council. The council represents SEI Graduate Student Chapters at universities across the United States.

West Virginia University students will have the opportunity to foster entrepreneurship in the state, after bringing home the top spots in all three categories at the 2017 West Virginia Statewide Collegiate Business Competition on April 21.
West Virginia Secretary of Commerce H. Wood “Woody” Thrasher, a 1977 graduate of West Virginia University, will be the speaker for the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources 2017 Commencement. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 13, at 1 p.m., at the WVU Coliseum.

Teams featuring seven engineering students from West Virginia University captured the top three places in the Third Annual Target Case Study Competition.
