Dr. Myers is a Full Professor tenured in the Industrial and Management Systems Engineering
Department. He currently serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for
the College. He is a diplomat of the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene and
is a Certified Industrial Hygienist. He joined the faculty of WVU in 1987. Before
that he spent 13 years as a research scientist with the National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health.
Dr Myers has extensive research and field experience in industrial hygiene specifically
with worker exposure assessments. He has worked professionally for the National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health; the American Mining Congress; 3M
Co.; the Department of Defense (Army and Air Force); the National Paint and Coatings
Association; and others. He has published over 37 peer-reviewed articles in industrial
hygiene and presented at over 20 national and international scientific meetings.
He is active in numerous professional organizations and societies including the
American Association for Aerosol Research, the American Conference of Governmental
Industrial Hygienists, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the British
Occupational Health Society, and the International Society for Respiratory Protection.
Dr Myers has received several national and international awards recognizing his
research activities including:
1998 John M. White Award given by the American Industrial Hygiene Association,
Respirator Committee for excellence in respiratory protection
1995 John M. White Award given by the American Industrial Hygiene Association,
Respirator Committee for excellence in respiratory protection
1990 Best Technical Content Poster Session Award, of the 1990 American Industrial
Hygiene Conference;
1989 Edward C. Hyatt Award presented by the International Society for Respiratory
Protection for contributions to the arts and science of respiratory protection;
and
1987 John M. White Award given by the American Industrial Hygiene Association,
Respirator Committee for excellence in respiratory protection.
