Mechanical and aerospace engineering students receive awards from West Virginia Academy of Science

Gbolahan Idowu and Sinan Demir, third and fourth from the left, won Best Research Oral Presentation Awards

Gbolahan Idowu, a graduate student from Lagos, Nigeria and Sinan Demir, a doctoral student from Gaziantep, Turkey, received top honors during the West Virginia Academy of Science’s annual meeting.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. —

Their presentations titled, “Effect of Nonequidiffusivity on Flame Acceleration in Obstructed Channels," by Idowu, and "Effect of Non-uniform Coal Dust Distribution in a Gaseous-Dusty Premixed Environment on Flame Acceleration due to Wall Friction," by Demir, both received WVAS 2017 Best Research Oral Presentation Awards.

More than 48 oral presentations and 69 poster presentations were given during the statewide competition, held at Glenville State College on Saturday, April 8.

Both students are advised by V'yacheslav Akkerman, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
