Graduate Funding and Fellowships
Funding and Fellowships
Support for M.S. and Ph.D. candidates includes competitive fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships. Graduate fellowships and other awards are available on a very competitive basis.
The Statler College anticipates awarding two Statler Fellowships for the 2016-17 academic year. Statler Fellowships carry an award of $25,000 per year, renewable up to three years maximum for MS/Ph.D. track students and up to four years maximum for BS/Ph.D. track students. In addition, recipients will receive up to $1,000 of matching support from the College for research-related travel.
Fellowship appointments will normally begin in the fall semester of the academic year.
Appointments are usually available for students to participate in particular research projects that may often serve as thesis/dissertation research topics. A waiver of University tuition and a monthly stipend are included.
Teaching assistantships may be available to qualified individuals. During the academic year the student is expected to devote half-time to assisting a faculty member in a course. A waiver of University tuition and a monthly stipend are included.
Fellowships are a special form of scholarship that are sponsored by industry or government agencies. Fellowships may be granted for support of specified research, or in some cases may be unrestricted. Learn more at graduateeducation.wvu.edu/funding-and-cost.
