Support for M.S. and Ph.D. candidates includes competitive fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships. Graduate fellowships and other awards are available on a very competitive basis.
Appointments are usually available for students to participate in particular research projects that may often serve as thesis/dissertation research topics. A waiver of University tuition and a monthly stipend are included.
Teaching assistantships may be available to qualified individuals. During the academic year the student is expected to devote half-time to assisting a faculty member in a course. A waiver of University tuition and a monthly stipend are included.
Fellowships are a special form of scholarship that are sponsored by industry or government agencies. Fellowships may be granted for support of specified research, or in some cases may be unrestricted. grad.wvu.edu/financial_assistance
