Kostas received a B.S. (2001) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Newcastle (UK) and an M.S. (2002) in Polymer Engineering and Science from the University of Birmingham (UK). He earned his Ph.D. (2006) from the University of Birmingham (UK) in Materials Science and Engineering.

He is an Assistant Professor with the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at WVU.

Kostas' current research is focused on the design, development and characterization of optoelectronic devices for sustainable applications. Applications include energy harvesting, biodegradable electronics, and contact-based sensors.

He is the advisor of WVU's Human Powered Vehicle Design Team and he is also interested in design-based engineering education projects.
