Engineering Challenge Camps are designed to help students learn the fun and exciting ways that engineering and computer science impact our lives through hands-on learning. Each camp features a theme that will help students build problem solving skill and to work better in groups. We have camps for Elementary, Middle and High School students.

Mining Engineering and Explosives Camp

Elementary Engineering Challenge Camps

Elementary camps run as week-long, half-day camps with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grades from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4th and 5th Grades from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Projects will be different than previous years.

  • 2024 Camp Dates: June 10 -14, July 8 - 12, and July 22 - 26
    • 1st - 3rd Grades - Morning half-day camp from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
    • 4th - 5th Grades - Afternoon half-day camp from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  • Camp Theme:  Imagination Inc.:  Where Little Minds Engineering Monstropolis Marvels!  This camp will focus on the foundation of engineering principles: creative problem solving, design, and teamwork through engaging, hands-on activities. 
  • Cost of Camp: $250 (Limited financial aid may be available upon request)
  • Camp registration is based on what grade your student will enter in the upcoming fall. Elementary camps are for students entering 1st – 5th grade.
  • Limited to 30 campers per week
  • Each week of elementary school camp will have the same curriculum. Please register for only one week.
  • After you register for an elementary camp, you will need to send a non-refundable $100 deposit within two weeks to reserve your space at camp.
  • Final payment is due two weeks prior to your first day of camp and is non-refundable.
  • Final camp agenda will be available after April 1. You can see a past agendas below.

Middle School Engineering Challenge Camps

Middle school camps run as week-long, full-day camps, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch included. Projects will be different than previous years. Each week of middle school camp will have the same curriculum; campers can only register for one week of camp.

  • 2024 Camp Dates: June 24 - 28, July 15 - 19, July 29 - August 2
    • Camp Theme:  Mission: Possible!  Junior Engineers at Work This camp is designed to provide middle schoolers with experience in challenging problem-solving, critical thinking and teamwork. Inspired by the world of espionage, students will embark on a mission to tackle engineering challenges that require ingenuity, creativity, and a touch of stealth. 
  • Cost of Camp: $425 (Limited financial aid may be available upon request)
  • Camp registration is based on what grade your student will enter in the upcoming fall. Middle school camp is for students entering 6th-8th grade.
  • Limited to 30 campers per week.
  • Final camp agenda is available after April 1. You can see a past agendas below.
  • Each week of middle school camp will have the same curriculum. Please register for only one week.
  • Middle school camps are all located on the Evansdale Campus in Morgantown, West Virginia.
  • After you register for camp, you will need to send a non-refundable $200 deposit within two weeks to reserve your space at camp.
  • Final payment will be due two weeks prior to your first day of camp and is non-refundable.

High School Engineering Challenge Camps

High school camps run as week-long, full-day camps, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch included. Projects will be different than previous years. There will be three different weeks of high school camps, each with a different curriculum. Campers may register for more than one high school camp, if interested.

  • 2024 Camp Dates:
    • June 24 - 28 -  GirlGenius: A week of empowerment, innovation, and hands-on exploration tailored to female/nonbinary students eager to dive into the world of engineering!
    • July 15 - 19 -  Innovation University: This camp invites aspiring engineers to explore innovation through hands-on projects, collaborative problem-solving, and cutting-edge technology across all disciplines of engineering. 
    • July 29 - August 2 -  RoboCode: This camp is designed for students eager to dive into the exciting world of robotics and coding.
  • Cost of Camp: $425 (Limited financial aid may be available upon request)
